Software for HP Envy 6555e for a MAC running 12.7.6

I just got out of the box the envy 6555e and it won't set up. I tried 3 x and got the same unable to register message. then Spent 2.5 hours on the phone with HP and the end result was to return the printer?! They said the ONLY way to download the software was through the HP smart app for a Mac....that they do not offer the software for a Mac running Monterey 12.7.6

  Does ANYONE have the software directly for this printer? any help appreciated.

I understand the HP Smart app is indeed the standard way to set up and manage the HP Envy 6555e on macOS. However, if you're unable to register the printer through HP Smart, there are alternative approaches to try.

Steps to Address the Issue

Download HP Easy Start: HP Easy Start is an alternative setup tool for HP printers. Download it from HP's official website:

• HP Easy Start for Mac HP Easy Start
• Enter your printer model (HP Envy 6555e) and download the appropriate software package.

Reset HP Smart Settings: If the HP Smart app is causing issues:

• Uninstall the HP Smart app from your Mac.
• Navigate to ~/Library/Containers/ and delete any folders related to HP Smart.
• Reinstall the app from the Mac App Store.     HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

Install Without HP Smart (AirPrint Method): If you want to bypass HP Smart altogether:

• Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
• Click the + button to add a printer.
• Select your printer from the list (ensure it's connected to the same WiFi as your Mac).
• Choose AirPrint as the driver instead of downloading additional software.

Manually Register the Printer: If registration fails via HP Smart, visit the HP Support Website to manually link the printer to your HP account.

Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer

•  Check if your printer needs a firmware update:
  • Download the firmware update tool from the HP Support page.
  • Update the firmware using another device (if needed) to ensure compatibility with your macOS version.
