Microsoft Windows 11

I am using the original disk that came with the HP Photosmart D7460 it starts to install then this message, operating system not supported current OS 602.24 . As per customer support page, downloaded HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows of course that couldn't find anything installed that it could repair so sent me in a never ending loop.
Please how do I resolve this though classed as old this printer has hardly been used and is definitely worth more than is laptop.

I found a previous post with a similar problem but your link for solving it went to a page not available, The instructions for deleting other drivers/software do not apply.

This is a new Win 10 laptop recently upgraded to win 11. Never thought I would be mourning the vista desktop that died.

Please Help.

Just wanted to say thank you again for kickstarting my braincells.  Your suggestion D7260 does work., but even better was the D7460 software for Win 8, 8.1 which installed without a problem downloaded from PrinterDrivers .com  I also found a free download for the now obsolete HP Photosmart Essential 3.5 which gives me almost full use of the printer.

Forget about using a 15 year old Photosmart D7460 on the newest WIN11 it's not supported. That printer model is obsolete, and you can use its full functions with obsolete windows ( Vista or 7 )

Hi @Netantew ,

Try the driver download from the next link, even when the driver is for a different model, it could make the drivers available for Windows system to install.

Photosmart D7260

Thank you I will try that. I don't think it will solve my problem. For the last few years in my spare time I have been tracing and scanning family negatives of lost photos covering more than 60 yrs,  Now I am retired I have the time to finish printing them off, which is why I bought the Photosmart, being retired I can't afford to buy another of the same quality. If there is no patch or fix for this built in obsolescence I'll have to find a working XP or Vista.  Didn't Microsoft say they would be the last ones only needing updates. Google shows There are many people in the same predicament as me  and many strange risky sites promising a fix so there is a need. Why on earth should we have to throw away a 5 year old machine that isnt even dusty.

I don't suppose  Restoring my 3 month old laptop to Windows 10 would help.
