One year ago I purchased a new PC - so I went from Window 8 to Windows 10.  At that time I tried to use a software program (Laplink PC mover) to transfer my programs across to my new PC but it didn't work for my HP Photosmart C4280 all in one.

The printer works (although it doesn't show up in the 'Printers and Scanners' section of the System Settings page, no matter how many times I download the latest appropriate printer drivers package from HP website. The original installation disc was lost quite a while ago.  I have tried 4 or 5 times to remedy this issue over past 12 months (including the HP Print & Scan Doctor program today which said there was a problem with the scanner and told me to go open  the  HP Solutions Center to remedy that- except that is the problem- no solutions center. I really need to be able to order scans from the solutions center.  I give up each time as every effort fails. Ive researched this and tried as many things as I came across. Can anyone help me? Cheers

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Keep me posted 😊

Thank you

Hi Again

Since you were kind enough to help me with this issue I just wanted to send a quick email to let you know I haven't had a chance to give it another go since your last message to me- more than a week ago now I think.

I haven't forgotten. I hope to get to it in the next few days - I've been swamped lately.

I can't see the last 2 messages you sent anywhere - only your first response to me so that's why I'm using the reply button on that one to get back to you. I hope your other 2 responses are still attached somehow to this one or are in this forum somewhere as I'm going to need them to move forward- I cant remember exactly what you said in them

Regards

Brett

Thanks for keeping me posted

Please run an SFC Scan first and then uninstall then printer driver from root level again to download the Full Feature Software

If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, you can use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files or to repair missing or corrupted system files

You need to run the SFC Scan first and then do the uninstall and reinstallation

If the issue persists try creating a new user account and check if you face the same issue on the new User Account
