Hi @VNC3675226,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When your HP printer automatically prints a Self-Test/Device Configuration page at startup, it usually means the printer is signalling a setup or alignment requirement. Here’s how to resolve this using these steps:

Why It Happens

  • The printer thinks it’s in initial setup mode or needs alignment confirmation.
  • It can also occur after cartridge changes, firmware updates, or factory resets.

Recommended Fix

1. Complete Cartridge Alignment

  • On the printer control panel or in the HP Smart app, run Align Cartridges
    • HP Smart AppPrinter SettingsToolsAlign Printhead.
  • Print the alignment page and scan it if prompted.
This signals the printer that setup is complete.

2. Disable Automatic Test Page

  • Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
    1. Print a Network Configuration Page to find the printer’s IP.
    2. Enter the IP in your browser.
    3. Navigate to Settings → Reports → Print Configuration Page and uncheck auto-print on startup (if available).

3. Check for Pending Setup

  • If the printer shows any blinking lights or messages, complete those steps (e.g., paper size confirmation, Instant Ink enrollment).

4. Update Firmware

  • Go to Official HP® Support → enter your printer model → download and install the latest firmware.
Firmware updates often fix persistent auto-print issues.

5. Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then reconnect and restart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
