Solved!

Stuck in queue after printing "Sent to printer"

HP Recommended
HP Officejet 4630
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Since last year, every print job sent to the printer gets "Stuck in queue after printing "Sent to printer", then after it prints, up to half an hour later, the message changes to Error - Sent to printer and never goes away.

I have:

- turned everything off and restarted

- reinstalled the original driver

- ran HP Doctor

- and restarted the print spooler (in fact, the only I can print a second job is to delete the 'sent to printer' document

BTW, everything prints fine from the hard wired connected printer.  This crap storm is consistent on all three laptops..

So, since something happened to many HP users what is the solution - buy a new CANNON OR EPSON printer?????

@Tfwg

Welcome to HP Support Community

I would like to help

Please uninstall the printer driver from root level and download the full feature software

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the computer and download the full feature software Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL49503/mp-120038-6/OJ4630_198.exe and follow the onscreen instructions

Thank you

I have an HP laptop, an ASUS  laptop, and a Dell Desktop connected to an HP Printer via USB, and of course WiFi is set up with the correct TCIP Port.

The Desktop can print via USB and/or Wifi (when USB is disconnected).

The ASUS laptop can print via Wifi to the printer.

My iPad can even print via Wifi to the printer.

But I cannot get my HP laptop to print to an HP printer,  and this seems to be a recent issue.  I saw that there was an update in November 2020.  Is it possible there is still a bug?

I have removed and restarted, checked that the drivers are current, checked TCIB port per instructions on this issue, removed files (per instructions on this issue) and rebooted.  NOTHING has worked.

Ready for this?  I can go into the HPSmart app (which says it's connected and can find no errors) and I can actually print out the Print Quality Diagnostic Page and the Alignment test page, but I cannot print from Word or Adobe!  What's going on?

Have you tried the steps suggested to @Tfwg to uninstall the printer driver from root level before downloading the full feature software?

I guess I put this request in the wrong thread.  I have an HP 6970 All-in One printer.  Should I move this or can the HP person who responded send me the correct HP download?

No need to reply.  I found the download I needed and was able to repeat the steps, and it worked.  Thank you!

This worked.

Although I put this in the wrong thread, I found that I had already downloaded the 6970 files I needed and this in combination with the removal of the drivers via printui.exe /s worked (even though I thought I had tried this already), this time it worked. Thank you!
