@LineWest, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer being stuck on 'preparing'!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e printer is stuck on the "Preparing" screen for hours, here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Perform a Hard Reset Again
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Disconnect any USB or Ethernet cables (if connected).
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds (if applicable).
- Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
- Turn the printer back on and check if it proceeds past the "Preparing" screen.
Update Firmware via USB
If your printer is stuck on the setup screen after the reset, the firmware may need an update.
- Download the latest firmware for your printer from HP's support website.
- Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to update the firmware.
- If the printer is not detected, try USB recovery mode:
- Download the firmware .exe file on your PC.
- Connect the printer via USB cable to your Windows 11 PC.
- Run the firmware update tool and follow the prompts.
Let me know how it goes!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
