Software will not connect with the printer.  Suddenly keeps asking to install a new printer.  the 8620 shows in the discovery dialogue, but say can't find when you got to install it.  I can print to it.  the print and scan doctor says there is nothing wrong, but I cannot do a test scan.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but I  do not think the windows uninstall is working, says it cannot uninstall.  I have removed and re added printer. Does not solve the problem.  This is the second computer on my network exhibiting this problem.  None of the support options are helpful, and the virtual support, is virtually useless, they out to scrap it.  I would like to know if I can get around the issues by manual install with ip address, and mac address.  Can not find any instructions on the web site - big surprise-  the software used to have that as an option, this version does not.  Can you help?

Hi,

The HP Solution Center software is not affiliated with an HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer, but intended for older HP printers and probably exists from an older HP printer you had.

 

You should open the HP Printer Assistant software for your printer, by clicking the printer name icon on your PC and then click on Scan a Document or Photo to launch HP Scan:

I have done this.  Every time i open the software it asks me to install new printer.  I have selected my printer, and I  have tried using IP Address, always fails.  None of the solutions on line works.  I cannot uninstall the software.  I get an error 5 and the uninstall 5.  I have searched of an uninstall tool on the web...no luck...But windows will not uninstall it so I am unable to clear what is blocking the connection.  The printer is installed.  I can print to it.  I run the print - scan diagnostic. Says that scanning is OK, but test scan does nothing.  So I need something that helps me dig deeper.  I have tried repair but is has not worked, I thing because the only OJ862x64.msi is the one installed on the computer, and my educated guess is it may be the root of the problem.  When I over install the software, it does not fix the problem.  Can you offer another suggestion?

I was able to open the security dialogue, and unlocked the control panel.  I uninstalled, I removed the device.  re added the device, and loaded software, all was well, but installing the printer still failed even using TCP/IP
