I just replaced the cartridges and keep getting the “Supply System Problem” error,  which instructs to replace the cartridge again and contact support if the problem persists. I’m not inclined to buy another new cartridge to fix this issue, especially since it shouldn’t be having this issue in the first place. Ideas?

Hi @LauraKG,

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you’re seeing a “Supply System Problem” error immediately after replacing the cartridges, and you don’t want to keep buying new cartridges to resolve it. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Perform a full power reset
With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug it directly into a wall outlet and turn the printer back on.

Reseat all ink cartridges
Remove all cartridges, not just the recently replaced one.
Reinsert them one at a time, making sure each clicks firmly into the correct slot.

Check for protective tape or blocked vents
Remove each cartridge and confirm all orange or clear protective tape is fully removed.
Make sure the small vent area on each cartridge is not blocked by tape or debris.

Clean cartridge and carriage contacts
Turn the printer off and unplug it.
Using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water, gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and inside the carriage, then let them dry.

Inspect cartridges for damage or leaks
Check each cartridge for cracks, leaks, or excess ink on the contacts.
A damaged cartridge can trigger a supply system error even if it’s new.

Check cartridge status on the printer display or software
Verify that all cartridges show as present and “Ready.”
If one cartridge shows an error, it is usually the source of the supply system message.

Run the printer’s ink system initialization (if available)
Some models automatically run an ink system prime after cartridge replacement.
Allow this process to complete fully without interrupting power.

Avoid mixing old and new cartridges
If possible, use cartridges from the same replacement set.
Mixing very old cartridges with new ones can sometimes trigger supply system faults.

I hope this helps.
