I moved and need to reset wireless on my HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e Series. I cannot get into the control panel to reset the wireless settings because it is locked and I do not remember the User Name and Password. If necessary I will reset the printer and start from scratch - need help please.

 Hi All.

I notice a good number of people have read my post but no comments.

I also notice that were other people have had a fix - it is via private communications.

Is this issue fixable?

It is certainly common.

Makes my newish printer the biggest paperweight I have ever owned!

Hi @AnneButcher,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the control panel of your HP 9010e printer is locked, you can try the following steps to unlock it.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Press and hold the "Wireless" and "Cancel" buttons together for five seconds. The control panel should now be unlocked.

If the above steps do not work, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings. To do this, follow these steps.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Press and hold the "Wireless" and "Information" buttons together.
  3. While holding these buttons, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Keep holding the buttons until the control panel displays "Semi Full Reset."
  5. Release the buttons and wait for the printer to reset itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks Alden

Unfortunately the Officejet Pro 9010e (https://www.hp.com/gb-en/shop/product.aspx?id=257G4B&opt=687&sel=PRN) does not have any physical buttons other than the power button on the top left of the unit.

The panel is a touch screen so all inputs are via that.

Thanks

Anne

Found the cure!

The screen lock (and all the import configuration functions) are now unlocked.

Username admin (default) and the pin (8 digit numeric) which can be found inside the front panel (where you access the print cartridges').

I have had this printer locked out for six weeks now, and the chat with this forum and the HP IT helpdesk, couldn't help.

Not great that such an easy fix is there.

Cheers

Anne
