HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer

The printer has started doing strange things. It shuts itself down multiple times during the day. It goes into sleep mode during a print job. I have not made any changes to the settings. I don't understand why it would suddenly starting doing this.

Hi @hell03830

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Power Source:

  • Ensure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a power strip or surge protector, which can sometimes cause issues.
  • Try a different outlet to rule out any power source problems.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or through the HP website.

Adjust Sleep Mode Settings:

  • Go to the printer’s control panel, and look for settings related to sleep mode. You can adjust the time it takes to enter sleep mode or turn it off temporarily.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a hard reset by unplugging the printer from the wall outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
