HP DESKJET INK ADVANTAGE 2874
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I hope you are doing well.

When I print a PDF file, the printer leaves a white margin at the beginning of the page, and because of this, the print doesn't come out complete, missing the end of the document. As a detail:

- I tested printing using Edge and Chrome, and the result is the same.

- I downloaded Acrobat Reader and PDF Reader, and the print came out cut off in the middle of the page.

In all cases, I selected 'Fit to page'. I couldn't find a margin setting to check if I could somehow reduce it, and to print a full PDF page, I have to set the scale to 91%.

Please, I need guidance to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Best  Regards,

Luis.

HI @LRR_3009,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re experiencing issues with white margins and incomplete prints when printing PDF files. Here’s a guide to help you address this problem and ensure your prints come out as expected:

1. Check Printer Settings

Print Settings:

  • When you open the print dialog in your PDF viewer, ensure that the settings are configured to handle margins correctly.
  • Make sure that “Fit to Page” or “Shrink to Fit” is selected. This will scale the document to fit the printable area of the page.

Page Sizing and Handling:

  • In the print dialog, look for “Page Sizing & Handling” options.
  • Select “Actual Size” or “Custom Scale” to adjust the print size. Ensure that the scaling option is set to 100% if you want to print the document without resizing.

Borderless Printing:

  • If your printer supports borderless printing, enable this option in the print settings. This will help eliminate margins and print edge-to-edge.
  • This setting might be found under “Page Setup” or “Printer Properties”.

2. Check PDF Viewer Settings

Adobe Acrobat Reader:

  • Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Go to “File” > “Print”.
  • Click on “Page Setup” and ensure that the paper size matches the size of your document.
  • Under “Page Scaling”, select “Fit to Printable Area” or “Shrink to Printable Area” if you need to adjust the content to fit the page.

Other PDF Readers:

  • Ensure that other PDF readers (like Foxit Reader or SumatraPDF) are configured similarly. Look for options related to scaling and margins.

3. Check Printer Properties

Printer Driver Settings:

  • Open the printer properties through “Control Panel” > “Devices and Printers”.
  • Right-click on your printer and select “Printer Properties”.
  • Go to the “Advanced” tab and check for any settings related to margins or scaling.

Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. HP sometimes release updates to improve printing functionality and fix bugs.
  • Check the HP website for the latest firmware version and instructions for updating.

4. Perform a Test Print

  • Print a test page or a sample document to check if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to PDF files or a general printing issue.
  • Verify that the paper size set in the printer settings matches the actual paper loaded in the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
