A friend of mine installed a Office Jet 3833 on my computer, but accidentally installed the wrong model. Mistakenly, the printer on my hard drive is a 3830 and I've been having trouble with it from the beginning. I've only used it a few times, but when I did use the printer, it wouldn't function properly and two days ago, I began using the scanner. It worked that one time, but isn't operating at all anymore. Is the reason for the malfunctioning due to the different model number or is it something else entirely?
Thanks.

All Office Jet 383x (x = 0 6o 9) printers use same software, manuals ... therefore under software you can see all 383x printers as 3830 printer.
Please download and install the following software and use it to scan
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, for Windows 10:
(a) Hit Win key,
(b) Scroll down to HP group/folder,
(c) Double click "HP Scan Extended"
You can put a shortcut on Taskbar or Desktop

Thanks for the quick reply. When I was installing it, I got a message telling me that setup was unable to automatically close all requested applications. And to ensure applications holding files are closed before continuing. I don't notice any of these, so I'm not sure how to find them. They aren't visible anywhere as far as I can tell. Is there a way to locate them? Sorry I'm being so dense.
