There's no drivers available for Sonoma 14.4.1 for the HP Smart Tank 520 540 Printer. When will HP Release the printer driver for macOS Sonoma. The Basic PCL Driver inside macOS is not working for the printer. Not printing just the cancel button blinks and becomes idle and the print queue becomes empty!

Troubleshooting Steps:

Check HP Website: Start by checking the HP website for any updated drivers specifically for macOS Sonoma. Sometimes HP release updates that aren't immediately picked up by the operating system's automatic updates.

Restart Everything: Sometimes a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. Restart your Mac and the printer.

Reset Printing System:

  • Open "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Click on "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left.
  • Select "Reset printing system."
  • This will remove all printers and scanners from the list. You'll need to re-add your printer afterward.

Add Printer Manually:

  • After resetting the printing system, click the "+" button in "Printers & Scanners" to add your printer.
  • If your printer is connected via USB, make sure it's connected and turned on.
  • Select your printer from the list or click "Add Printer or Scanner" to search for it.
  • If the printer is not automatically detected, you may need to select "IP" and enter the printer's IP address.

Printer's Web Interface:

I have the same problem with an HP Ink Tank 315. Printer is in perfect condition, only not recognized by macOS Sonoma 14.4.1. Also HP Smart, not for USB cable units.

I'd tried all possibilities. Including yours but it didn't work! Only hp or apple has to provide the solution

HP needs to update drivers. There is no reason why a perfectly functioning unit should not to work with current Mac Operating Systems.
