- Tips for printing 4x6 borderless on Smart Tank 750

I've been trying to print 4x6 photos for almost 2 months and when I choose borderless printing, the preview on HP Smart shows the image as expected, alas when printed, it's cropped. The image is printed correctly while the border is active. I've tried all possible combinations to no avail (I also found that if I select HP Photo paper, there's a weird bug that makes the photo be printed relative to the top left corner, but the borders are not placed correctly).
Any tips to minimize/mitigate the difference between the preview and the actual print?

Welcome to the HP Community --
The printer is not aware of what it is printing.
True - HP Smart crops the image to force it into a Borderless format.
HP Smart enlarges the image enough to fit "borderless" then hacks off the edges to make the image fit the size and shape of the paper.
Not ideal for "exact size" images on paper the same size as the print.
HP Smart > Fit / Shrink maintains the size and shape of the photo at the expense of leaving white borders left where the image shape does not exactly fit the size and shape of the paper.

If you must (or wish to) use HP Smart to print borderless,
HP Smart and Photos - Both apps - Windows support printing the image at size 4x6 on a larger paper size -
Print then trim the edges with a decent paper cutter.

What else?
What you can do does depend on the Operating System / version and the tools you have available on your device (computer, tablet, phone).
If your image exactly matches the shape necessary to fit on a 4x6 inch photo paper, there is less damage (change) to the image when it is fitted to your paper.
Image not the shape of your paper?
Need an exact size image with the option to ignore aspect ratio (shape and size).
Mobile Printing? You will need a clever app -- check your mobile device app store.
Windows - Use decent photo editing / print software that can print your image how you want it done, that is, at the size you want to print plus with or without maintaining Aspect Ratio.
Example - Irfanview - Custom Print Size
Irfanview_Custom_Print_Size_3
