HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The Photosmart 7520 I'm working with is exhibiting rather confusing behavior.  First and foremost, the touchscreen lights up on start-up but is non-responsive.  At the same time, the power-on light which is located above the on/off button does not light.  During past/previous problem-solving attempts, I opened the top cover (getting a message on the touchscreen that the top is open) and then - leaving the cover in that position - I put a pencil in the slot that contains the contact that indicates the top cover is down/closed.  As a result of doing so, everything worked perfectly with the cover in the open position... at least for a while.  At the present point in time, the use of this same technique has little to no effect.  As a result, I've reinstalled the application/driver software on my laptop, connected the printer to laptop using a USB cable and tried to print.  I worked.  But the touch screen still remained unresponsive.  In addition, I attempted to go  through the recommended routine (for dealing with touchscreen issues) of plugging the AC adapter directly into a wall socket and unplugging the power cord from the back of the printer... waiting 60 seconds and then plugging the adapter back into the wall socket and then plugging the power cord into the back of the printer.  The result has been no change in the issue.

My current focus is on trying different things to get the power-on light to light up.  If I can manage to get it to work, I tend to believe that the touchscreen will become responsive.

@jjbsack25, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that the touch screen is not responding. This seems like a hardware failure. I see that you have tried a hard reset already.
