Product: HP2300 Laser Jet Printer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm trying to hook up an older HP2300 Laser Jet Printer to my ThinkCentre desktop computer (both are old but that's what I'm dealing with right now).  There is no port on the desktop that supports the plugin from the printer so I've been told I need an adapter.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Thanks.

The 2300 has a USB connector on it just under the parallel port, you will simply need the correct USB printer cable to connect.

Another option is to either purchase an HP 620N Jet direct card. This solution works by turning your printer into a network printer.

Thanks for the information.  I was able to find the usb connector as described.  Do you happen to know what the usb is called since it's not a regular usb as I know it.  And this cord will plug directly into a standard usb on my desktop? Sorry - not techie at all.

It is a USB A-B cable, super common, any place that sells electronics will have them.

Thanks.  Will get this cord asasp.

 

Do you know anything about cords for portable charging banks (not sure if that's the correct terminology)?  The port on the one that I have is damaged.  There are 2 - one smaller and one usb so I was wondering about usb to usb for charging?  So many cords and some are for data.  I just need one that will charge usb to usb.

The challenge is that on some of the power banks, only 1 port will charge and the other is output to the device you are powering.

Me again!!  So now I am getting an error message:

 

The hp Laserjet 2300 Setup program has encountered a severe error and will now exit.  Restart your computer and run Setup again.

 

I did this and still the same.  I had the original CD so used that.

 

Any suggestions other than a new printer??
