Printer would print a test page but just spin trying to print a document. Removed the driver and have been trying to reload. The download happens and it appears to do the install actions but the printer does not appear the list.

@DK225, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're running into some driver installation issues with your HP Deskjet 3000 printer on Windows 11. There are a few things we can try to fix this:
Check USB Connection
Make sure that the USB cable is securely plugged into both the printer and the laptop.
Try using a different USB port on the laptop if available.
Ensure that the printer is powered on and properly connected.
Uninstall Existing Drivers Completely
If there are remnants of old drivers that didn’t uninstall correctly, it can interfere with the new installation.
Open "Device Manager":
Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
Expand the Printers section, and see if the printer shows up there (or it might show under Other Devices).
If you see your printer or an unknown device listed, right-click and choose Uninstall Device. Make sure to check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device.
Remove from Printers & Scanners:
Open Settings → Devices → Printers & Scanners.
If the printer is listed, click on it, and then click Remove Device.
Install the Latest HP Printer Drivers
Download drivers directly from HP (not through Windows Update, as those might not be the most up-to-date):
Go to the HP Support website.
Search for HP Deskjet 3000 and select your printer model.
Download the full driver package for Windows 11.
Install the Driver:
After downloading, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure that the printer is connected via USB when prompted during installation.
Use Windows' Built-in Printer Troubleshooter
Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
Run the Printer Troubleshooter to see if it can detect and fix any issues.
Check for Windows Updates
Sometimes, a Windows update can resolve compatibility issues with hardware:
Open Settings → Windows Update, and ensure your system is up to date.
Restart Print Spooler (Windows):
- Search services in the search box. Open the service menu.
- In the list, find Print Spooler.
- Right-click Print Spooler and click Restart.
- If it’s stopped, click Start instead.
- Close the window. Check if the issue persists
Run HP Smart:
- Download and run the HP Smart. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix common printing issues.
- Refer: Use Diagnose & Fix in HP Smart to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
