My newer printer failed and I have tried to get my older 882c to work. The printer test page prints beautifully. When I attempt to print an email or document the print is garbled with symbols and regular text and uses many pages to print something that should be less than one page. I know the 882c is no longer supported, but is there a way to get the needed driver or software?

Hi @SPwhit
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the driver issue.
HP Deskjet 882c driver for macOS 10.14 are not available from the HP website or Apple Software Update. However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Asmita,
I appreciate your help. I went to the Gutenprint site, saw that my printer was supported, downloaded the latest release of the printer drivers, deleted my printer and then re-added it, and the driver listed was from the Gutenprint download. I was feeling good at this point. Unfortunately when I printed a file the print was again mostly symbols with an occasional line of legible print and took multiple pages for a note that should have been half a page. Regardless, your reply has given me a new avenue: I plan to ask the Gutenprint community for some suggestions.
Thanks for your quick reply. If I do get a solution I will let you know.
