I just bought a new router and everything but my HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer is connected to my new WiFi network. I can't figure out how to recofigure the printer to connect to my new WifI and I've tried just about everything. Now I am trying to install the Printer Driver for this printer to MacBook Air with OS X Mojave but the software I found at Apple.com, "HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X", appear corrupted because about 90% through the installation I get an error message: "System extension cannot be used"... The system extension "/Library/Extensions/hp_io_enabler_compound_kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update."
I am totally lost and would appreciate help if anyone has a clue how I can reconnect my printer to my WiFi network. Thanks.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
You will have to use an Ethernet cable to connect the printer to your network or you can also use a USB cable for direct connection between the printer and the computer. Let us try these steps:
1. Connect the device directly to the network by inserting a network cable into the device network port.
2. Turn on the printer. Allow 1-2 minutes for the printer to acquire an IP address.
3. At the device, use the control panel to print a Configuration page.
- To print the Configuration page from the control panel
- Press (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) to select the Reports menu.
- Press (SELECT).
- Press (LEFT ARROW) or (RIGHT ARROW) to select Config Report.
- Press (SELECT) to print the Configuration Report page.
4. Insert the device CD-ROM into your computer. The software installer will automatically run. If the software installer does not start, navigate to the setup.exe file on the CD-ROM and double-click the file.
5. On the Welcome screen, click Next.
6. On the License Agreement screen, read the license agreement, indicate that you accept the terms, and then click Next.
7. Select connected via the Network and then click Next.
8. To identify the printer, select search from a list of detected printers, select and highlight the printer/IP address that matches the IP address on the printed Configuration page, and then click Next.
9. On the Ready to Install screen, click Next to begin the installation. NOTE If you want to change your settings, instead of clicking Next, click Back to return to previous screens, and then change the settings.
10. Allow the installation process to complete and then restart the computer to complete.
NOTE: If you do not have a software disk, we can try Installing driver using Apple Software update
1. Use the steps available here to update the software on Mac.
2. Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
3. Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
4. If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
5. Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
6. Click the Use or Print Using menu, select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
7. Try to print.
Let me know how this goes.

Thanks but thst doesn’t help me. I don’t have a CD Rom. I think I need to use a different computer than my laptop because I can’t find HP Printer Driver software for my HP 2600n Printer for my MacBook Air, which runs on OS X 10.14.3. I’m going to try installing HP Printer Driver software for my printer to my iMac, which uses an older OS - Snow Leopard. I already installed a Firmware file for my OS for this purpose but it didn’t prompt me to select my WiFi network and a Password. That’s where I’m at, currently.

Up until 2 weeks ago, my HP Color Laserjet 2600n printer worked flawlessly and wirelessly. Then, 2 weeks ago I bought a new wireless router and changed my WiFi network, and all of my wireless devices worked perfectly, including my HP 8600 inkjet printer, with my new WiFi network (after I reset the network and entered the new password)... EXCEPT FOR my HP 2600n printer. I believe I must install the Printer Driver for the 2600n printer to my iMac, which runs on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard.)
I found a HP "Firmware" for the 2600n printer for my iMac's Snow Leopard OS -
HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer Firmware Update Utility
20120928
but after I installed it in m iMac it did not prompt me to reset the WiFi network for the printer. So I don't know if installing this Firmware amounted to installing the Printer Drivers for the printer, or whether I need to do something to get the printer to reset to my new WiFi network.
I'd appreciate any insights should you know how to address this issue. Thank you in advance.
