So, is there ANY way to circumvent the problems of downloading and installing drivers for the HP M479 printer with an Apple running Catalina?
This Mac laptop was running windows fine until a couple weeks ago on the M479 we just bought, but it just quit connecting all of a sudden and after hours of HP online help and even a technician coming to the house, we are now totally unable to print from the Mac laptop. My older (and cheaper) Dell laptop works fine, no problems. HP can't solve the problem - does anyone know the secret sauce here??
THANKS

I am also on a MAC, having the same issue with the SWHelper pop up. When I close the pop up it cancels the download. Has there been a resolution to this? It’s hard to think that in 2020 there isn’t an install option for Apple products.

Hi @GANNGELA
Welcome to the HP Support Community. To assist you better, I would like to know the following:
- Which model HP printer are you using?
- Which version of macOS is installed?
- How is the printer connected to the MAC?
Keep me posted for further assistance.

@CharleneA, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
As mentioned in one of the previous posts by a HP expert, 'SWhelper' is not a part of the HP printer software. Kindly check for any adware/malware on the system. For more info, you may contact Apple support.
Also, check for any software updates on MAC
HP Officejet 6700 Premium All-in-One Printer is AirPrint compatible. Try installing the printer using AirPrint driver.
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar, you have said several times that SWHelper is not part of HP, however please see the following screenshot, there is SWHelper in the package contents for HP Easy Start. Please look at the file path at the bottom of the screenshot, it says: Applications > HP Easy Start >Contents > Mac OS > there are 2 files here: HP Easy Start and SW Helper. Please advise. Thank you.

I just bought a new iMac and migrated everything over. Catalina 10.15.3. My HP 8600 all in one was not letting me adjust scanner settings so I tried to download drivers directly from HP. I have the same SWHelper issue that others write about. I believe my machine is clean of malware. Is SWHelper part of Easy Scan or not? My install fails as described by others.

Download and install below drivers which are compatible with Catalina:
Once completing the installation make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the Mac or to the same network, open System Preferences > Printers & scanners and click the plus sign.
Select your printer and make sure the printer model is selected within the Use drop-down menu.
To allow full scan capabilities too, I also suggest installing the HP Easy Scan app from the store:
