Trying to update my HP SMART but I get this error message: HP Smart for Desktop cannot be updated because

it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID. What is the work around?

At this writing, HP Smart is only available from the Apps Store for supported printers and Operating Systems.

From the description, it sounds like you need to sort the issue(s) with your Apple Account and / or the Apps Store so you can install applications.  Ask Apple for help with your Apple ID and using the Apps Store.

What else?

You might try uninstalling the application from your Mac system > Restart the computer and log in

Try installing the app from the appropriate link in the Apps store.

Will that work?

The result is perhaps related to whether there is actually an issue with the Apple ID you are using to install apps.

Example

HP Smart for Mac

HP Smart – MacOS Desktop – Mac Apple Store

      Compatibility

          Mac OS Desktop

          Requires macOS 10.13 or later.
