Wifi is working in this house but the printer HP ENVY 6455e went offline. My friends are not here and this is not my  printer. How can I get the printer back online so I can connect my laptop via bluetooth and print a document before they return?

Hello @printeruser44 and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Given that the printer is offline but connected to Wi-Fi, and you're trying to print via Bluetooth (which this model doesn't support for printing), here's how you can get it back online and print successfully:

Step 1: Confirm Printer is on the Same Wi-Fi Network

Since you're in your friend's house:

  • Make sure your laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
  • The printer must be connected to the same SSID (Wi-Fi name) as your laptop.

You can check the printer's Wi-Fi status by pressing the Wireless button on the printer control panel. If needed, reconnect using the HP Smart app.

Step 2: Restart Devices

  • Power off the printer, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Restart your laptop.
  • This often resolves temporary offline issues.

Step 3: Add Printer via HP Smart App

Since this is not your printer, you can still use it temporarily:

  1. Download HP Smart from HP Smart for Windows or HP Smart for macOS. HP Smart
  2. Open the app and click “+” to add a printer.
  3. Select HP ENVY 6455e from the list.
  4. Follow prompts to connect and print.

Note on Bluetooth Printing

The HP ENVY 6455e does not support Bluetooth printing. It uses Wi-Fi and USB only. Bluetooth is used only for initial setup via HP Smart.

Step 4: Print Your Document

Once the printer is added in HP Smart:

  • Open your document.
  • Click Print and select HP ENVY 6455e.
  • Make sure the printer status shows “Ready” or “Online”.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
