Since I updated Windows the printer has stopped working - It appears to be online - and the drivers say they are the latest - but they are Windows drivers and the thing aint working.
I have tried umpteen ways to download the old drivers - but searching for Officejet 4200 drivers - but the only thing available to download in the diagnostic package.
This will run - but then it reports it has encountered a problem - doesn't give more information than that - and it will not do anything more.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Katrina

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,
After reading the post, I did go through the software and driver download page for this printer and found that there is no full feature software available for Windows 10.
If you wish to continue using this printer on a Windows 10 machine you would need to install the printer using Windows built in drivers.
You may follow the steps suggested in this support document for - HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help you.

According to the printer specifications it shows that your product is not tested for Windows 10.
If you're running Windows 10 the only option would be to install the printer drivers using Windows built in driver.
I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.
Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.
For more details, you may refer to this support document for - HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Take care and have a great day!
Cheers 🙂
