I have a brand new HP laptop. It has two USB-C ports on the left side. I was able to plug my charger in and charge the device a few times but I realized that it stopped charging. The USB-C ports both still work for my wireless mouse, but the charger will not work. I've tried other chargers as well with no luck. Can anyone give me some advice?

Hi @kaymel008,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be an issue with the power delivery or detection on the USB-C ports of your HP laptop. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue.
Check the Charger and Cable:
- Ensure that the charger and USB-C cable you are using are in good condition and compatible with your laptop's charging requirements.
- Try using the original charger that came with your laptop to see if it works. Sometimes, using third-party chargers might not provide the correct power delivery.
Inspect the USB-C Port:
- Check for any physical damage or debris inside the USB-C port that might be preventing proper connection or power delivery.
- Use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust or lint that might be inside the port.
Update Drivers and Firmware:
- Sometimes, driver or firmware updates can resolve issues with USB-C ports. Visit HP's support website and check for any available updates for your laptop's chipset or USB drivers.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues with hardware detection.
Reset Power Management:
- Reset the laptop's power management settings. You can do this by unplugging the charger, shutting down the laptop, removing the battery (if removable), and holding the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect the battery (if removable) and charger and try charging again.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Access the BIOS settings of your laptop and check if there are any settings related to USB ports or power delivery. Resetting BIOS settings to default could also help.
Perform a System Update:
- Ensure that your laptop's operating system is up to date. Sometimes, system updates can also resolve hardware compatibility issues.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue with your USB-C port not charging your HP laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
