Hi @gort4,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To change your HP desktop 2700 printer from a wireless connection to a wired connection using a USB cable, follow these steps.
Prepare Your Printer:
- Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer with the USB cable that came with the printer. Also, ensure that the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi.
Install Printer Drivers (if not already installed):
- If you haven't already installed the printer drivers on your computer, you may need to do so. You can usually find the necessary drivers on the HP website. Download and install the appropriate drivers for your operating system.
Check Printer Status:
- Ensure that the printer is recognized by your computer. You should be able to see it listed in your computer's list of connected devices.
Set as Default Printer (optional):
- If you want to use this printer as your default printer, go to your computer's settings and set it as the default.
Test Printing:
- Open a document or image you want to print and select the HP 2700 as your printing device. Try printing a test page to confirm that the wired connection is working correctly.
Disconnect Wi-Fi (optional):
- If you no longer want the printer to connect to Wi-Fi, you can disable the Wi-Fi connection through the printer's control panel or settings. Consult your printer's user manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
After completing these steps, your HP desktop 2700 printer should be set up for a wired USB connection, and you should be able to print documents directly from your computer without a wireless connection. Remember that if you ever want to switch back to a wireless connection in the future, you can follow the reverse process and reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
