Windows 10 recently installed. Checked event log after installation of OS. Observed the following under Print Service:
1) The print spooler failed to regenerate the printer driver information for driver HP Photosmart C4500 series for environment Windows x64. Win32 system error code 19 (0x13). This can occur after an operating system upgrade or because of data loss on the hard drive.
2) Installing printer driver HP Photosmart C4500 series failed, error code 0x0, HRESULT 0x80070705. See the event user data for context information.
3) The print spooler failed to regenerate the printer driver information for driver HP Photosmart C4500 series for environment Windows x64. Win32 system error code 1797 (0x705). This can occur after an operating system upgrade or because of data loss on the hard drive.
Uninstalled HP Printer products. Restart PC.
Download software from HP website.
Re-installed C4580 software. Printer setup is thru USB connection.
I can print from the HP Solution Center > Printer Toolbox > Test Page
I can print from HP PhotoSmart C4500 Series > Print Sample Page.
I cannot print from HP Printer Scan Doctor > Print Test Page.
I cannot print from any files... nothing goes into the Print Queue. Under devices and Printers... 0 documents in queue. Verified the default printer is not Paused. Tried Adobe pdf files and Word docx files.
No info enters the print queue.
Attempting print from Word returns error: "We couldn't print because there doesn't seem to be a printer installed. :-("
When I print from Notepad it gives an error: The handle is invalid. See below for exact message.
I can scan documents using the HP Solution Center.
I have now performed this twice: uninstalled HP printer. Restart. Download software from HP website. Re-install HP printer software. Scan Doctor does not provide any useful information, nor did it fix the problem.
Is there some service that needs to be running?
Print Spooling and the 2 Peer Networking services are Running.

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are unable to print from your computer.
Update the printer firmware
Refer this HP document for the steps to update the printer firmware:- Click here
Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
- Restart the PC again.
Download and install full feature driver for the printer
Click here to download the driver.
Let me know how it goes.

The issue still exists.
There was no firmware update to apply.
After going through the process, it is the same process that I had followed, except that I had also went to the %temp% folder and deleted what was there from prior attempts.

Thanks for the reply.
I appreciate your time and effort.
I understand the issue better now.
Temporarily disable the firewall
-
Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor
.
-
Click Network.
-
Click Troubleshooting Firewalls.
-
Click the name of any firewall software that has an Enabled status, and then click Disable. Do this until all firewalls are disabled.
-
When all firewalls are disabled, install your printer software or try to use your printer.
-
If the installation completed, re-enable the firewall in the Print and Scan Doctor. For future installs, you can either temporarily disable the firewall each time, or you can continue to the next step and configure the firewall to allow HP programs.
-
If the printer functionality returned, re-enable the firewall in the Print and Scan Doctor, and then continue to the next step and configure the firewall to allow HP programs.
-
Let me know if that helps.
To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.
Cheers.

Uninstalled printer software as notepad file gave same error when the firewall was disabled. Restarted PC.
When attempting to install as wireless, (firewall was disabled) software installation is complete, but under product configuration, after at least 5 minutes an error returns C:\Users\asus\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS2F32\hpzsetup.exe "-wStub" "45
Fatal Error during installation ... see message mage below.
No printer is shown in Devices and Printers.
It will then uninstall the software... I hit cancel.
When I connect a USB cable back up, it completes and says it was successful. A HP PhotoSmart Series printer shows with a _TMP00 appended to the printer name (HP Photosmart C4500 series_TMP00_TMP00_TMP00). I can print the test page from the installer but not from any applications.
Using RegEdit how do I clear out the registry for HP products?
When I install as USB connection, that fatal error also occurs, but after clicking OK, another window shows up that the installation was successful.... and same as above when USB is connected.
The file hpzsetup.exe does exist in the stated folder.

I read the quick response and thank you for your efforts and patience. As @sandytechy20 is out for the day, I am replying to you. Your persistence to get to the bottom of things is greatly appreciated.
Please try these steps:
Install it on a different computer if possible to isolate the issue correctly. If it works correctly on a different computer, then the operating system of your computer is the culprit and resetting the operating system of the computer to factory settings and reinstalling the printer drivers will fix the issue.
Before that let's try these steps:
- Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
- Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
- Go to devices and printers, in control panel and select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
- Click on print server properties.
- You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there if any.
- Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
- Restart the PC.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
- It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
- If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
- Ignore the Regedit option if it cannot be done.
- Restart the PC again.
- Then create a new local user account as an administrator from this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/instantanswers/5de907f1-f8ba-4fd9-a89d-efd23fee918c/create-a-loc...
Log into the new user account after restarting your computer.
Then download the latest full feature driver from https://support.hp.com/my-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-photosmart-c4500-all-in-one-printer-se... and install it on the computer after selecting the correct operating system.
Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
This should fix the issue.
If this does not do the trick, please download the Windows Built-in drivers by following instructions from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01796879
Now check if the issue gets resolved. if it does not work in a new user account, then the best route to go would be is to backup your data and reinstall windows.
Then reinstall the printer drivers . This should fix the issue.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
