Hi All,
I have been having issues trying to adjust some settings for the Scan to Email in the EWS that required access to a https page. Edge was giving me all kinds of grief as per the screen shot below. The issue basically boils down to the printer having a lower TLS version than is allowed by Windows.
Just in case someone else was having this issue, here is how I worked around it:
Step 1 - Enable Internet Explorer mode in Edge
- Click on the ellipsis (...) in the Edge toolbar and open Settings
- Select Default browser from the menu
- Under Internet Explorer compatibilty, change Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode (IE mode) to Allow
- Add the local network address of your printer as an Internet Explorer mode page, making sure to add https:// at the begining.
Step 2 - Temporarily allow TLS 1.0 and 1.2
- Win+R, type in inetcpl.cpl
- Go to Advanced and scroll down to Security.
- Enable TLS 1.0 and 1.2
- Browse to the EWS and try to access a secure section (example Scan to Email setup).
- You will encounter a message saying the site is not secure:
- However if you click on More information, you will be given the option to Go on to webpage (not recommended). Click on this link and you will be able to access the required EWS page.
- Once you have done the required changes in the EWS, make sure you reverse the changes made in steps 1-3 above.
Hope this helps.
