HP Easy Start suggested me to install Essential Software v.5.3.2.11 and other stuff. However, "Unable to install the software" keeps happening for hundreds of times. Seems that this is not the first time for this issue, but the provided solution is no longer available. Please help me with this not-easy HP Easy Start.

Hi,

Download and install the following packages:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-esse...

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-easy-scan-1_...

Once done add the printer unders Printers & Scanners, the printer model should now be listed.

Shlomi

Hi @hihiben,

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums,

I see you are unable to install  Essential Software v.5.3.2.11 using Easy Start. I will be glad to help.

Usually Easy start should download the Essential Software without any concerns, as it is failing to so do. I recommend you to delete the printer from printers and scanners from system preferences.

Reset the printing system, manually add the printer in printers and scanners and do an Apple update. This should automatically download the essential software for your printer.

To reset the printing system, right-click on the printers listed in the printers and scanner. Click here to know more.

If you need assistance in adding the printer manually, click here. Make sure to select the name of the printer instead of AirPrint as shown in the article.

Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for your reply. However, only AirPrint and Secure AirPrint is available when I need to select the name of my printer. Does it means that DeskJet GT 5820 is not available for my OS(Sierra)?

Thanks for the reply and trying the suggested steps. Request you to delete the printer from printers and scanner again. Reset the printing system. Restart the MAC.

Connect the printer with a USB cable and do an Apple update. Let me know if this helps.

The printer is compatible with Sierra.

Keep me posted.

I tried several times but still only AirPrint is available in the option.

I looked up the list of selecting the driver manually, only these names are listed that are related to DeskJet series.

Thanks a lot! This is just what I am looking for! However, it seems that the double-sided function cannot be activated in the printing configuration. (Sorry for the language of the interface is in Traditional Chinese. I mark it out with the red box. )

Does it means that I have to take two steps by myself (print the odd pages first and then the even pages), if I want my document printed in double-sided, or is there any other suggested solutions?

HP Recommended

Yes,

The GT5820 only provide manual duplex capabilities, not automatic, meaning the pages to print should be used as following by sending two print jobs:

From the main drop does menu select Paper Handaling.

Set the Pages to Print option as Odd Only, as well set the Page Order as Automatic and click on Print.

After the odd-numbered pages has printed, reload the paper with the printed side facing up and repeat the process above by setting the Pages to Print as Even Only this time.

Shlomi
