I am trying to install my HP Deskjet 2820e printer/scanner to my desktop computer running Windows 10 (64 bit). The Windows installer does not work and when I try HP Smart it insists that the printer is turned off despite the fact that it is turned on and talking to the network. The printer works correctly with both my phone and my Android tablet but I am getting nowhere with installing it on my desktop. The desktop can ping the printer and finds it but still insists that it is turned off.

Thank you for the suggestions, but actually the problem appears to have been the firewall on my computer which was not allowing access to ports 631 and 9100. I opened up these ports for HP Easystart after which the installation worked and I can access both the printer and the scanner.
