Unable to install MFP 281FDW Driver on Server 2016

At work, we recently bought a new model of HP Printer, the MFP 281FDW. I'm trying to install it on our print server(Windows Server 2016), but the driver available at https://support.hp.com/ca-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-color-laserjet-pro-m280-m281-multifunction-print... refuses to install, giving a popup that the operating system isn't supported. It looks like the exact same installer exe is offered for both Windows 10 and Server 2016, as well as older Windows Server versions. It installs just fine on Windows 10.

I'm also able to successfully install the PCL6 driver offered on Server 2016, however one of our crucial business applications doesn't play nice with PCL drivers, so that's not an option for production usage. Is there an alternate driver yall can suggest, or troubleshooting to get the current driver working?

To install the HP Software on a server, use an MSIEXEC command to install the drivers, be sure to add an ENERPRISE=YES attribute as listed under 'Customize the installation' below:

Be aware that the HP Software offers a PCL XL driver as the HP UPD PCL6.
