Hello,
I have a Compaq Pressario, circa 2010. I just upgraded to Windows 7. I had to delete my programs when upgrading so I need to reinstall the Officejet software. I deleted any remnants of the old program such as the shortcuts and the folders. The new software runs until it tries to connect to the printer wirelessly. (My pc is connected to the modem wired, but the printer has always connected wirelessly.) The installer runs and runs and finally says it can’t connect to the printer. The printer is listed so it must see it. While the program is in search mode the printer icon appears AND FUNCTIONS, but when I cancel because it can’t connect, it disappears. I have completely deleted and reinstalled a few times, even trying just the basic driver. If I have Windows add a new printer, it finds it and it prints wirelessly. The problem is I can only scan and fax if I initiate them using the printer controls. When I try to open the Officejet software it still thinks it is not installed. The scan doctor program can find the scanner and I get green on all of the troubleshooting things, it even connects to the scanner ok in test mode, but when I try to run the test scan at the end, it still says it can’t connect! What is going on? Has anyone else had these issues??

Create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right-click the printer and left-click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
