Hi @Anniedog

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this must be—especially when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 has worked fine for years. Windows updates can sometimes cause driver conflicts, preventing the printer from functioning properly.

Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 Driver Issues

1. Remove and Reinstall the Printer

  • Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 and click Remove Device.
  • Restart your computer and re-add the printer.

2. Download and Install the Latest HP Drivers

  • Visit HP’s official driver support page for the OfficeJet Pro 8710 here.
  • Download and install the latest drivers and firmware.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

3. Check Windows Update Settings

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click View Update History and check if any printer-related updates were installed.
  • If necessary, roll back the update or reinstall the printer driver.

4. Try a Different Connection Method

  • If using Wi-Fi, try connecting via USB to see if the issue persists.
  • If USB works, the problem may be with the network settings.

Let me know if you need further clarification! I know how frustrating driver issues can be, but hopefully, this gets your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 back to printing properly. 😊
