I un-enrolled from instant print a few months back and since then my HP laptop can not recognise the HP printer.
Few things already checked/tried but still nothing:
- I am able to print for another device
- Removed printers and tried to re-install them
-Used wireless and USB
- re installed software several times
- Used Hp assistant and other support software
- My IT support at work also tried to help but were unable to fix
- Sent feedback to HP (million times)
The only issue I found was the printer spooler which has stopped. I tried to start it and it keeps saying that the dependencies arent running, which I checked and they are.

Hi @MarinaBGD
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you
Due to the current global COVID-19 situation, we're seeing an influx of customers coming in for support. We appreciate your patience.
Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Restart your computer.
- Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.
- Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.
- Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer” – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".
- Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.
- Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go running window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
- Once done you can try cleaning out your temporary files and cached files. You can try using automated applications like some cleaner software's that you can download from the internet.
- Now restart your computer again.
- Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.
- Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.
- Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.
- Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well
- Windows image acquisition stop and restart the service
Reinstall the drivers from Software and drivers page

Hi Team,
Thanks so much for your response. Unfortunately it failed on every step.
I have taken photo of where things were wrong but the main issue is.
1. I had two printers showing on printers and one I could remove but the other is saying that the driver is unavailable therefore unable to remove
2. I was able to remove my printer from the imaging devices however not from the printer area
3. Under “c:/programdata” it stated that the printer spooler isn't running
4. I removed folder with my printer on it
5. I could not run manually any processes as it kept referring to dependencies. The only dependency which I couldn't find was HTTP service WINQuic whic is in every dependency I opened. Seems that this isn't running....as all other dependencies are running.
Can you advise further?

Let perform a windows update -
Install all the available Windows updates
If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system update.
If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.
- Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
- Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
- After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
- When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.
And then try deleting the entries

Hi, updates have failed. I tried downloading the file directly from the widows catalogue and still unable to install.
this has all been happening since I stopped the instant ink service.
any other suggestions? I was unable to get anyone from Hp to respond for a while... very frustrating.

Hi,
This has nothing to do with HP Instant Ink cancellation, stopping the service may prevent the hardware from printing, it cannot prevent Windows services from running, this has nothing much to do with each other.
When you say the updates have failed, what exact error is shown?
You described a Widnows Service issue, the update failure may occur for the same reasons too, not likely with any relationship with the printer.
First, make sure the USB cable is disconnected from the printer at this time.
Please right-click the network icon on your PC and select Open Network & Internet Settings.
Click on Network and Sharing Center.
Can you see the Network Type listed as Public or Private Network? right below the network name at the top...
Click on Change advanced sharing settings.
Under Private, uncheck the 'Turn on automatic setup of network-connected devices and press Save Changes.
Click Start < Settings (gear icon) > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
Click on any instance of your printer and select Remove Device, then restart your PC.
Can you see any difference with the services now?
As you mention you cannot remove the device, please open the Device Manager again and expend the Printers category, if you see your printer name or Unkown Device, right-click it and select Uninstall.
Also, expend the Print Queues categories and try removing the device there.
As well, click the top View menu and select Show hidden devices, look and remove any instance of your printer name or Unkwon Device within the following categories and check if the print queue been removed:
Imaging Devices, Software Devices, Other Devices.
I would also suggest unplugging any connected scanner and remove the SCSI Scanner Device instance which indicates an error and may affect the services.
This way we eliminate any device-related issues, as the printer and PC are not connected and not affecting each other in any way, any issue you currently experience with such services have none to do with the HP printer in any way.
Also, try following Windows Update again and check for any difference describe the exact problem if still experiencing any such.
If it still fails, what is your current Windows version? right-click the Start menu and select System, scroll down and locate the listed Version, let me know this information to get some better understanding of what may cause the problem, from your description I would suspect any operating system related problem.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the delay I was away on holiday.
Network listed is PRIVATE
Automatic setup of network is already ticked
I tried to remove device and it tried to remove but couldn't. The message is "driver unavailable"
