I successfully installed HP OfficeJet 5258 driver from the "full feature" .EXE file and tried the basic driver from the official HP Driver site. I was able to use the Printer and Scan features for a few months. The Printer suddenly stopped working and now throws an error message (exact words) "Error printing on HP OfficeJet 5200 series PCL-3 (Network)".
- The printer IS connected to my Wireless - I've disconnected/reconnected numerous times.
- My workstation cannot find the printer during "Add a Printer", not can the HP software.
I can ping the printer.
I can browse the the printer and use all tools, clean heads, etc.
I CAN fax to others.
- I CAN Scan to my printer.
- I CANNOT Print.
Nothing changed in my workstation environment when the error started. This is a snippet of the exact error message. The HP software just cannot see the printer so the driver is not installed, although initial it does identify it with the correct name, IP, and MAC address.
I have followed every recommended fix I can find, including:
1. Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers and the Program files
2. Unplug/ re-set the printer
3. Uninstall AND THEN Remove Driver from Registry using RegEdit AND using the "Run" command "printui.exe /s" to remove the driver there.
4. I have manually added a TCP/IP port.
5. I have set static network parameters.
6. I have disabled my firewall and anti-virus protection numerous times while installing.
7. This printer is at the latest firmware release and using the latest drivers.
I have also installed the Driver from the 123.hp.com site with no luck. Is one Driver install method preferred - the executable file versus the 123.hp.com method? I've used both.
I have dug deep with zero results for weeks. Please help!!
Thank you

I did find the issue. There was a TCP/IP port that was stale under a different login even though I had previously moved the printer to the newly created port under the admin login it still wouldn't print. Under the account with the stale port I moved the printer to the TCP/IP port I created as admin and deleted the stale port under the user login with printutil.exe /s . This resolved the issue. The stale port wasn't under any of the other logins, just one of 6 logins. The symptom was being Access Denied when trying to remove the stale port, even as Admin, and even though I had pointed the printer to the new port as admin.
