Hi community.
i am hoping you may be able to advise here.
i have been unable to successfully send a print from my laptop running windows 10 64-bit version 1903
i have another laptop that is running windows 10 64-bit 1803 which is able to print in colour.
both have had the same drivers installed from the website (basic drivers). I have repeatedly reinstalled the drivers on the 1903 laptop without success of being able to print in colour.
what i have noted is on the 1903 laptop there doesn't appear to be any colour settings in the driver control panel under printing preferences.
any advice on this? at present only workaround i have found is to email hpeprint anything i need to print in colour as the 1803 laptop is my husbands laptop for work.

Hello
so i have preformed the following as per your advice.
Removed all software relating to the printer from programs and features
Gone into Printers and Scanners (devices and printers) to remove the device
Performed a Restart
Ran printui.exe /s to remove the driver listed in the Printer UI driver list.
Opened control panel for devices and printers
I click Add Printer
The printer is then located as a network device
the windows in built driver is then automatically installed. there is no prompt to look for a driver or to use the windows update catalogue.
On this occasion after performing a test page print it appears to have resolved the issue and i can also see the colour option in the printing preferences tab.
I am going to mark as resolved and monitor the situation.
Thank you

@GummybearFamily Here's what I recommend you do:
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
NOTE:
Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.
See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

Hello
this has not resolved my issue, apologies on the delayed response been very busy and not had opportunity to go through the troubleshooting steps
i have tried through twice - once using the windows in built drivers and the second using the OJ3830_Basic 64 drivers.
Please Advise
the issue appears that under the printing preferences tab on Paper / Quality there are no options for colour or Greyscale and i think it has defaulted value to greyscale.
This is on windows 10 1903 Build 18362.476 and on windows 10 1803 this is not an issue and the option is available. as i previously have stated this is setup through wifi network on both devices and only option from my primary 1903 device to print in color is to email. i believe this is a driver issue on windows 10 Version 1909 with this printer model. the printer is also coming up as 3830 series not sure if that is relevant as the device model is 3831 .

@TS15, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Thank you for your suggestion. I had tried that earlier and it did not work. I might add to this that you need to remove anything that is related to the Envy 4520 first, restart your computer and then follow your suggestions. Thank you again for your help and expertise. It was driving me crazy.

Could you try creating a new user account on your Windows PC and log in to it. Install the printer on your new account and try printing.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
