I changed wireless service/network, and my HP OfficeJet 6962 no longer works. I need to setup my new wireless network parameters in the printer, but the functions related to changing the configuration are greyed out, and it says the printer has been locked. I can't find any function for unlocking or resetting to default factory setting.

Hi @Bronwon_Queen,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the functions related to changing the wireless configuration on your HP OfficeJet 6962 are greyed out, it's possible that the printer's settings are locked or restricted. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue.

  • Restart the printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
  • Reset the printer network settings: Locate the network or settings menu on your printer's control panel and look for an option to reset the network settings. This will remove any previously saved network information and allow you to set up a new wireless connection.
  • Factory reset the printer: If resetting the network settings didn't work, you can try performing a factory reset on the printer. This will restore all settings to their default values, including the wireless configuration. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Update the printer's firmware: Check the HP support website for any available firmware updates for your specific printer model. Download and install the latest firmware to ensure your printer has the most up-to-date features and bug fixes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I turned the printer off and back on after a few minutes as instructed in the HP Agent's reply. I did this twice, but to no avail. The printer still says that I've locked the configuration ("the feature has been locked by the person who set up the printer"), which I did no, and and I cannot change my wireless network parameters nor proceed with a factory reset.

I clicked on the link you provided for HP Support, and tried several times to access the the service, but each time I got the following message: "This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
