Install using OJ6830_73.exe downloaded from HP support website finds printer, begins installation.

"Unsuccessful network installation" "The printer was unable to be installed ove the network."

Installation from WIndows 10 Control Panel | Devices and Printer screen installs scan only but under printer category.

Greetings @pduggan1,

Thanks for the post.

I understand that your printer is connected to the router using an ethernet connection and are able to scan but not print, is that right?

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Are you able to make a copy on the printer?

Have you tried using HP Print and Scan doctor?

Recommend you install and run HP Print and Scan doctor to automatically detect and resolve any communication issues with your printer and the computer. Click here to know more.

If the issue persists, uninstall the printer software and settings and reinstall the printer using Windows built-in drivers.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Refer to this HP Article to install the printer using Windows built-in drivers.

For other troubleshooting steps, please refer to this HP Article for assistance.

Let me know if this helped.

Success!

I tried everything you recommended except deleting files from %temp%. I didn't fool with the registry.

Thank you. You deserve a medal for getting this done after almost seven days of struggle.

I have yet to try scan. You may here from me again.

When instaled previously, the scan funtion installed in the imaging category under Devices and Printers. Now it appears only once, under Printers.

Thanks again and best regards.
