I purchased this printer last year around Black Friday. I purchased a new laptop (Dell Inspiron15 5000 series) I had the software installed and there were no problems. I was printing, Scanning everything I was supposed to be able to do. I have done all updates for Windows, Dell and HP as they come up. All of a sudden my printer was no longer listed so I could not print. Every time I try to reinstall It tells me that it was an unsuccessful network installation. It sees the printer and won't do the install. Everything in my home in on the same network and is wireless. Why am I having this problem?

Hi @roseyair17,
Thanks for stopping by the HP support forums. Good Day! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. After reading your post I see that you need assistance with printing issues. I will be a delight to assist you here.:)
Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you. 🙂
For better clarity, I would require more information to assist you.
- This did start after a windows or software update? Do you remember?
- Have you bypassed power strips and connected the printer directly to the wall outlet?
For a start, please perform these steps to uninstall the printer completely.
- Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)
- Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)
- Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.
- Click on print server properties.
- You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.
- Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.
- Restart the PC.
- Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,
- Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.
- It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files).
- If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.
- Restart the PC again.
- Download the latest full feature driver by clicking here and install it on the computer.
- Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.
Please perform these steps diligently and patiently to resolve the issue. It will do the trick for you. The step about regedit can be ignored if cannot be done.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Hi, I have the same problem except my device is the HP Officejet Pro 8610; I followed all the steps and still came back with an error message: "installation unsuccesssful. Try again." This has been an ongoing problem and I don't know where else to turn

I had the problem "unsuccesful network installation" when re-installing hp 6830. I tried all suugestions. Unfortunately non of them worked. Finally I removed "hpwuschd" startup application. Surprisingly all worked fine.

Well, your solution might work, but, as far as HP goes, I am done. LAST product was purchased over a year ago. But, my HP headaches remain. Personally, I cannot wait until I buy a new printer. My laptop's HD died within 30 days. HP failed to honor their warranty, so, Sams Club got involved and it STILL took 30+ hours for HP to admit it's your guys' problem, and to make it right.
You told OP that you are glad they accepted your solution. But, my question to ALL who work for Hellacious Products, WHY must we even have to deal with this nonsense? This is not a one-time issue with this crap. This is an EVERY SINGLE TIME i have to deal with some damned hic-up with HP issue. I hope to God, someone with brains buys HP, or the whole company collapses. There is absolutely NO reason for this to even be an issue. Once? MAYBE. Twice? Thats when I tell HP its time to go to hell. For me, it's two strikes you're out. And yet, for some reason, I STILL have the HP Printer. Except it's cost me MORE money and a whole hell of a lot of time, quite frankly, I'm thrilled to death my HP laptop died AGAIN! This time, no excuses from HP, no 30 hours of pissing contests, which I win every time, because HP is ALWAYS at fault for garbage products. And now this issue AGAIN!
Here's a solution. Well, mine anyway: GOOD BYE HP!
Sorry to send this to you personally, but, [edit] in their ivory towers hide while send you guys to deal with the anger we should be directing to them. Since I can't MAYBE somebody next to you can. (Probably not).

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
