HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer will not download update and becomes unusable when in process of trying - says its downloading but never moves from 0%.  Attempted to initiate from a PC, but with same results.

I am having the exact same issue with HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 that started yesterday.  Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you

Same problem with a 9018 on a mac.  Continually fails download/update, I continually reset/pwr off/on and continually goes through this loop.  I haven't found any way to stop it from automatically trying to update or any other work around yet but looking.  Considering a complete factory default reset, delete & reinstall.

HP, what a PIA !  Any advise for your struggling users?

I have escalated this issue as it appears endemic. It might take some time for HP to sort out. In the meantime, you could check the embedded web server of the printer to see if you can disable auto updates.

Thanks for stepping in Repairatrooper and escalating this, I hope HP will like to look into it.

As for our issue, and I hope I'm not being premature, it appears that a simple printer factory default/reset resolved our issue.  The reset disabled wifi and allowed me to turn off auto update (which couldn't be turned off before & now set to notify).  Not sure a simple reset will work for others but might be worth a try.  Hope this helps.
