Help! Just updated to Big Sur and now printer not working. In the middle of home schooling, last thing I needed. Does this mean I have to go out and buy a new printer? Was working fine yesterday in old OS. And just bought lots of ink for it, gutted!

@Hopefullysolved, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
This model printer has no drivers available on the HP Support site to work on macOS 11 and is not AirPrint compatible too.
However, Gutenprint (formerly called Gimp-Print) provides open-source basic print drivers for many printers that would otherwise not be supported in Mac OS X. To see if your printer is supported, go to Gutenprint drivers for more information.
NOTE: Gutenprint drivers are not supported by HP or Apple.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar,
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I checked the driver list at this site and HP Deskjet 2280 isn't listed. I have contacted them to see if they will be adding it however I am weary using software not supported by Apple/ HP. I choose these brands because I trust them.
It's a bit unfair that a few days ago I had a brilliant printer/scanner (with newly bought spare ink cartridges) and now it is obsolete? Not exactly eco friendly is it? So now I have to home school x 4 kids with no printer and I have to go source a new printer (except they are all sold out because everyone bought one to WFH).
Not a great time to be letting down your customers, I feel cheated.

I understand your concern. However, this is a pretty old printer and there is no update if a driver will be available as of now. Try to follow the steps mentioned in this document to check if that helps.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
