do I need to be connected to a laptop or desktop to update my printers Firmware or can I do it from my Galaxy s9 plus and the wireless connection that I have for my home. ?

Hi,
You can do that through the wireless connection on your home.
Print a Network Configuration Page to make sure that the printer is on the same network as the computer.
On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless button
and the Information button
at the same time.


Both a Network Configuration Page and a Wireless Network Test Report print.
Locate the IP Address within the General Information section, it will be listed as URL(s) for Embedded Web Server.
Browse that IP from your mobile device, within the Tools tab click on Printer Updates and then on Check for Updates Now.
Note: if the printer is not yet connected to your home wifi, follow 'Connect a printer that does not have a touchscreen control panel > Step 2: Connect the printer with the HP Smart app > Android mobile device' below and connect it to your home wifi first:
