Have just upgraded to windows 11 and the scanner does not work.

If you've upgraded to Windows 11 and are experiencing issues with the scanner functionality on your HP Envy 4500, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check for Driver Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website and look for the latest drivers for Windows 11 compatible with your HP Envy 4500 printer. Download and install any available updates.

Reinstall the Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the existing printer software from your computer.
  • After uninstalling, restart your computer and reinstall the printer software using the installation CD or by downloading the updated software from the HP website.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and install HP Print and Scan Doctor, a free tool that can help diagnose and fix scanning issues. You can find it on the HP Support website.

Check the Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure the scanner settings are correctly configured. You can access these settings from the printer software that is installed on your PC.

Try Using Different Scanning Software:

  • If the default software is not working, try using third-party scanning applications like VueScan, which often have broad compatibility and support a wide range of operating systems and scanner models.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:
