Hello!
A friend of mine kindly sent me an HP Office Jet Pro9015e All in one printer. This is not brand new! But, it has been printing because there was paper in the tray and the SETUP CARTRIDGES were still in place. They were all empty apart from the black, which is larger! The printer told me that I needed to install new cartridges. So, my friend (same one), sent me some brand new cartridges from her supply. These are 962/963/964/965 cartridges.
Okay, so my problem is this. The screen tells me to insert the SETUP cartridges and I do that. Then it says "Use New Cartridges for Startup! (New, unused cartridges must be used for startup).
I inserted the new cartridges. The menu now goes back to the message asking me to insert the SETUP cartridges. This just goes round and round. When the screen is on, there are no options to try from the menu, other than the messages I have stated.
Someone, PLEASE, PLEASE help me. I know this should be simple but I am losing my mind!!

Hi @Hannah_solo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with printing on your printer as it gives you an error related using setup ink cartridges.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
