HP Deskjet 1220c Printer series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Is there any driver or means whereby I can continue to use my trusty old Deskjet 1220C printer now that I have upgraded from WinXP to Win10 (64 bit)?

It would be a shame to scrap such a good printer just because of a lack of a driver!

Looks like you will have to try Windows built in driver.

I tried the Windows built in driver procedure, but it stopped at the Windows Update stage - just received an error message saying no drivers were available.

Sorry, guess it's time to update your printer.

Using Deskjet 1220c with Win10, no driver is availabel in Win 10 or HP support. What to do?

Please read above.

Does that mean that HP dont bother to update drivers for newer OS?

HP Recommended

Correct.  That printer has been dead for years.

Not Correct...  my 1220c printer is definitely not dead.  HP may not support it any longer, but mine is still working perfectly.

The good news on the driver issue is that a week or two after my first post on here, Windows Update automatically provided a generic Win10 64 driver for the printer.  It isn't quite as full featured as the original HP driver, but it does work, so full marks to Microsoft and a rasberry to HP.

Incidentally, France has a law against companies deliberately making their products obsolete.  I think failing to keep drivers updated should fall into this category.  Let's hope the uk passes something similar.

Great, so the Windows built in drivers worked like I said to try.  Again, glad it's working.
