This is a follow up to my original post at the end of October:

Fax Hack: "Firmware updater does not contain upgrades for your printer"

I've tried full resets and tried using USB instead of WiFi. Nothing causes the firmware updater to say it can update my Photosmart 7525.

My best guess is that whoever wrote the updater for HP expected my printer to have a relatively recent version of firmware. But I turned off web services shortly after getting the printer, so it's not been updated since an initial update when I set it up. I suspect that the current firmware updater does not see a version of the printer's firmware that it was written to update from.

Can anyone suggest how to get current firmware onto our Photosmart 7525 so that we are not vulnerable to the "fax hack"? A bit hard to believe that HP is not taking this seriously.

Thanks.
