Hi @Tchward,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 0XC6FD0403 on HP printers generally indicates an issue with the printhead or cartridges not being detected or incorrectly installed. Here’s a troubleshooting guide.
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 1-2 minutes before plugging it back in.
- Power the printer back on and check if the error persists.
Check and Reseat the Printhead:
- Open the printer access door and carefully remove the ink cartridges.
- Lift the printhead latch if available, then gently lift and reseat the printhead.
- Secure the printhead latch and reinstall the cartridges.
- Close the access door and check if the error clears.
Clean the Contacts:
- Power off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and printhead using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry for a few minutes, then reinstall the cartridges.
Update Firmware:
- Go to HP’s official support website, enter your printer model, and download any available firmware updates.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the update on your printer.
Replace the Printhead or Cartridges:
- If the error persists, the printhead or cartridges may be defective.
- Try using new, genuine HP cartridges or consider replacing the printhead if it’s available as a replaceable part for your printer model.
Reset to Factory Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
- After the reset, you may need to set up the printer again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
