I have an OfficeJet 6978. When I first got it, probably around 2016, I had it installed on my laptop and I had the HP ePrint+JetAdvantage On Demand software. The benefit of this: I could print from any application from anywhere with an internet connection and it was like I was connected directly to the printer. Did HP do away with this software? Now if I want to remotely print, I have to save the document as a PDF and then email it. The "old way" was much better. I'm not sure why HP changed this. Can anyone elaborate on this?

@aseal, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP JetAdvantage Status!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
HP JetAdvantage is a suite of software solutions aimed at improving the efficiency and security of office printing. However, over the years, HP has evolved its offerings and some specific services have been discontinued or integrated into newer platforms.
The HP JetAdvantage On Demand was initially designed to allow users to print from anywhere with an internet connection, which worked seamlessly with printers like the OfficeJet 6978. Unfortunately, some older versions of these services have been phased out as HP continues to innovate and integrate new technologies. The functionality you enjoyed in the past may have been replaced with newer solutions under the broader category of HP Smart Services or HP Print Solutions.
For remote printing now, HP recommends using services such as HP Smart App or HP Print Anywhere, which allows similar functionality with modern conveniences and enhanced security features. This might involve slightly different workflows like emailing documents or using cloud services linked with the printer.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
