Operating System: macOS 10.12 Sierra

What's the best way to use my already-installed and existing HP Smart when upgrading from an older HP all in one printer to a new HP 8025E printer?   Do I first restore the old printer to factory settings, and then "ignore this printer" in HP Smart before proceeding?   Is there a better way to replace one HP all in one with another?
