When attempting to print only numbers and symbols at top of page.

While attempting to print items ,printer will show up and will direct into the printing queue however. the project will not print and numbers and symbols will print at the top of the page. The rest of the page will be blank, and the printer will continuously print until out of paper or until I cancel the job.
