HP Office Jet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer

When check paper sheet has only one blank check left, how do I print a single check on an HP Office Jet Pro 9125e  All-In-One Printer?  I have already tried creating a custom paper size for 8.5 in by 3.5 in under my printer server properties and the custom paper never gets added the drop down menu when printing, yet when I go back to create the form again, I see that my previous one is still there. My old printer use to be able to print one left over check from the 3 check stock format, but this newer one doesn't, which is an odd for HP to no longer have that feature. Please help

Hi @BonDev123

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're trying to print a single check from a leftover check paper sheet, and your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e isn't recognizing the custom paper size you created.

While frustrating, this limitation can be worked around.

Let’s troubleshoot and adjust settings to help you get that check printed:

1. Confirm Paper Size Customization

While you’ve already tried creating a custom paper size under "Printer Server Properties," it’s worth double-checking:

Open the Control Panel and go to Devices and Printers.

Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e and select Printer Properties.

Under the Forms tab, ensure your custom size (8.5 x 3.5 inches) is listed and named appropriately.

Ensure the name doesn’t include special characters, which could cause the system to ignore it.

If the custom form still doesn’t appear in your print dialog drop-down, you may need to update or reinstall the printer driver to ensure compatibility with custom sizes.

2. Workaround: Set the Paper as a Pre-Defined Size

Some printers struggle with non-standard custom sizes but work fine with pre-defined sizes. Try setting the check size as a "pre-defined" size in your print settings (such as an envelope or smaller paper size).

3. Print as a Full Page with Alignment

Print the check as if it were part of a full 8.5 x 11-inch sheet:

Insert the check sheet into the tray, ensuring the blank check is positioned correctly.

Open your software’s print settings (e.g., accounting software or word processor).

Select standard letter size (8.5 x 11 inches) for the print job.

Manually adjust margins in the print dialog to align the content with the blank check.

Test a plain sheet of paper first to make sure the alignment is correct before printing on the actual check.

4. Enable Borderless Printing (if Applicable)

If your printer supports borderless printing, enabling it might make custom sizes more flexible. You can toggle this setting in your print preferences.

5. Update/Verify Printer Firmware

HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
